Holubar Mountaineering was established in 1946 by Roy and Alice Holubar in Boulder, Colorado. They designed and sold mountaineering equipment and their innovation of mountain-ready soft-gear such as down sleeping bags, tents, parkas and clothing has been highly respected since popularity grew in the 60s and 70s. To this day Holubar's technologically forward-thinking gear still possesses an unmistakable old school vibe from the USA, now combined with quality construction from their new Italian headquarters.

The Deer Hunter is one of their classic signatures with a vintage mountaineering parka charm - few jackets are as iconic as this, thanks to Robert De Niro's outfit in Michael Cimino's film of the same title.

The jacket is padded and insulated with a blend of down and feather to provide the wearer which exceptional heating. This filling has a low profile quilting around the inside of the jacket, and it fills a collar which sits below the hood.

This jacket has a full-zip front with a button-up stormflap for added coverage and it has a chin guard to the inside. The waist and hood of this jacket come with adjustable drawcords for a more secure fit and the cuffs are adjustable with Velcro. The jacket has ample storage with four Velcro flap pockets to the outside, the lower of which come with two-way entry with handwarmer pockets. On the inside it has a large security pocket as well as a stash pocket.

We find that Holubar runs a little slim - usual size will fit okay over a tee, if you want to layer up however, then buy the size up.
